I don’t like missing targets, especially when the target is at a mid-range distance away. That’s why I’m always in search for great quality Viper PST (Precision Shooting Tactical) line of riflescopes. While searching site of one of the renowned authorized dealers of multiple brands such a Vortex, Trijicon, Schmidt and Bender, Swarovski, Zeiss, and many other, I stumbled upon two attention grabbing products with great features and they are Vortex Viper PST and Viper 3.5-10x50mm scope. As my requirement was basically mid-range scopes that sit just below the Razor tactical scopes, I settled with 4-16x50mm scope.
What made me Buy this Device?
My basic concerns while buying an Precision Shooting Tactical optical device that it priced below $1000, serves the basic operations of a scope with the option of adding tactical or target features, and most importantly can be used for target shooting as well as sniping. I found all these at Vortex Viper PST. The most important features here include illuminated First Focal Plane (FFP) reticle, large exposed target knobs, 30mm tube, and zerostop. This decently priced product is nicely packaged in an attractive looking box with written instructions, shims for the zerostop, bikini style lens caps, sunshade, battery, and fine lint-less cloth. Therefore, Vortex Viper PST comes with all the basic accessories one need along with scopes.
What about the Eyescope at Viper PST Riflescopes?
Eyepiece at Vortex PST Viper rifle scope has fast focus eye feature, which can cover the whole adjustment range in just 1.3 rotations. In accordance with the need it operates as well as focuses, rotating seamlessly with minimal force. The shooter will be protected from any kind of ‘scope kiss’ by the half an inch deep large rubber protective ring present at the end. This protective rubber also makes the scope half inch closer to the eye a shooter. For illuminated reticles illumination controls are present before the adjustable eyepiece. To avoid any kind of elevation blocking especially when the user is behind the scope , the control knob is set at 45° angle. In the entire scope tube, I haven’t found any kind of over-illumination or leaking of light. You can easily identify knob position due to the presence of tick mark.
How to Adjust the Vortex Viper PST to Zero? What about FFP?
There are twenty-one MIL of vertical adjustment and five MIL of adjustment with every revolution at Vortex PST Viper tactical riflescopes. The one I have bought can be combined with a canted base to provide ample adjustment range. You can use Allen wrench to loosen the three set screws at the windage knobs as well as elevation for slipping the knob to zero. Infinite adjustment range is in the system allows you to line up the knob perfectly on zero setting. With changing magnification setting the reticle also grows or shrinks because of the fact that the concerned scope is a FFP or First Focal Plane. Therefore, the setting is always perfect irrespective of which power the riflescope is set at.
How 30mm Tube at PST Precision Shooting Tactical Rifle Scopes Special?
Every 30mm Tube is crafted from a single block aluminium of highest quality (equivalent to aircraft grade 6061-T6 standard). The tube itself looks nice and most importantly the angles are crisp. Any kind of reflection is minimized through nice matte black anodized finish. Markings on the rifle scope is done with off-white color so that getting the perfect setting does not become a problem.
How did it Fair?
Overall, as a tactical shooter, I have found all that I was looking for in a rifle scope at Vortex Viper PST. You will be able to buy this Viper PST (Precision Shooting Tactical) riflescope within a price range of $1000 and the price is quite competitive when compared with many other similar devices from other manufacturers such as Burris XTR, Bushnell Elite, Nikon, Weaver, and many more. Moreover, the customer service is also significantly good, which surely puts it ahead of many of its peers.
